The official maritime ambassador for Rhode Island is the tall ship, Oliver Hazard Perry. It’s named for the local naval hero in the war of 1812. The vintage-inspired ship is the largest, regularly operating civilian sail training vessel in the United States. See how it is also used as a floating classroom for local high school students to build character and learn skills for the maritime industry.

CAPTAIN JONATHAN KABAK CHOSEN FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISE GREENHOUSE NONPROFIT LAB INITIATIVE

Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island is thrilled to announce that Captain Jonathan Kabak, our CEO, has been selected as one of the fellows for the Social Enterprise Greenhouse inaugural Nonprofit Lab. Partnering with the United Way of Rhode Island, the Nonprofit Lab seeks to "generate development of self-sustaining solutions enabling organizations to expand and accelerate their ability to create positive social impact.”
The six-month long accelerator program encompasses a 6 week "bootcamp" phase, a networking and planning phase, and a final pitch event in June, where the top three finalists will receive a total of $90,000 in prize money towards their organizations.
