Bermuda Voyage

Join us as America's brand new Tall Ship, SSV Oliver Hazard Perry makes it’s premier voyage to Bermuda, an event of historical significance.

Bring family and friends with you on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure and take part in the operation of a full-rigged ship. You may find yourself on deck bracing the yards and then taking your turn at the helm, perhaps steering the ship towards a blazing sunset or riding the crest of a following sea. Go aloft if you choose, up to 130 feet above the rolling swells, furling sail in a freshening breeze. Although Oliver Hazard Perry is a modern 21st century Tall Ship, participants of all ages who embark in her will join a long history of sail training and adventure. They will live and work side by side with our 17 professional crew learning square-rig seamanship on the first ocean-going full-rigged ship to be built in America in over a hundred years.

We are pleased to be partnering with Ocean Navigator Magazine who will teach their certificate courses in celestial navigation and meteorology while underway. You may choose either course (but not both) or you may opt out of both to have more free time to learn to sail the ship. Either way, you will stand watch and be counted on as a member of the crew. No sailing experience is necessary.

Aboard Oliver Hazard Perry the focus is on learning 'from sailing' rather than learning 'to sail.' Each individual participates to the best of their ability within the rotating watch system and the efforts of every member of the ship's company are vital to the voyage. No one is a passenger: everyone works together to help make the voyage a success. No prior experience is necessary; no extraordinary fitness is required.

A voyage aboard the Tall Ship Oliver Hazard Perry is safe and it can be exhilarating. But while sailing aboard Oliver Hazard Perry is an adventure, it is also comfortable: our professional chef prepares three fine meals each day, berths and cabins are comfortably furnished, the ship is air conditioned throughout and there is ample hot water for showers (although we must conserve our fresh water supply on longer passages).
