Dayton Carr was the founder of VCFA and, possibly, the secondary private equity industry. He entered the venture capital industry in 1968, and having recognized the growth in the industry and the liquidity needs of many investors, formed VCFA Group in New York in 1982. He also formed and led eight other secondary market firms. Dayton served on the advisory boards of several venture capital partnerships and private companies and serves on the boards of The Alden Group and Kolob Development Corp., Inc. Dayton graduated from Brown University and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Dayton passed away at his home in New York City on April 7, 2020.
