Experience a new type of education adventure

SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is a 200 ft, three-masted, full-rigged Tall Ship. With 20 sails and 7 miles of rope on board, there is no room for idle hands when we set sail! Life on Oliver Hazard Perry means you become a part of our crew, from hauling lines, to climbing aloft, to taking the helm, you will participate in every aspect of sailing the ship. No previous sailing experience or extraordinary fitness is required, while life aboard is active and hard work, a positive attitude and sense of adventure is the only prerequisite to join!

In addition to the wealth of knowledge you will gain sailing Oliver Hazard Perry, there are many additional educational opportunities during your time aboard, including:

PROPOSED ITINERARY

Day 1: September 19th – Embark Oliver Hazard Perry at 1pm in Newport, Rhode Island.  Dock and safety orientation while sailing to anchor in the Sakonnet River.

Day 2: September 20th – Sail north through the Cape Cod Canal. Anchor north off Sandwich, MA. 

Day 3: September 21st – Sail through Cape Cod Bay up to Stellwagen Bank (potential whale watching).  Anchor for the night off Provincetown, MA.

Day 4: September 22nd –  Shore landing in Provincetown (Pilgrim Monument, Museum, beach)

Day 5: September 23rd – Sailing overnight off coast of Cape Cod to the shores of Cuttyhunk Island

Day 6: September 24th – Return to Newport, Rhode Island.  Disembark at 10am

 

NOTE: All inclusions, landings and sail routes are subject to change based on weather, safety conditions, and captain's discretion.  


Please note that each departure requires a minimum of 15 trainees booked in order to run.  Should the minimum not be met, Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island has the right to cancel the departure at its own discretion. The cancellation notification will be made at least three weeks prior to departure. Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island will work with rescheduling trainees to another departure, or provide a full refund (minus Active reservation fees) to the original payment method.

Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island highly suggests all trainees purchase traveler’s insurance in case of cancellation or trip interruption.
