When did you first fall in love with sailing? During my first storm on a vessel. There were race crew that were terrified, I was having a BLAST fighting the elements.  That day, and my first day sailing a tall ship; I’ve never felt so at home and natural in an environment.

What's the best part of your job? When I’m teaching, I love giving the freedom and skills confidence that comes with understanding how to harness the wind to sail, I love giving that to my adult students.  The transformation is outstanding.  When I am not teaching, I simply love working among my shipmates out in nature to accomplish a common goal.   They are all such hard working and good natured folk and that is the sort of people I want to surround myself with. And watching dolphins from the head-rig netting, and sunsets from up in the rigging.

Favorite place you've sailed to: Hawaiian Islands- the water is this amazing indigo purple and the fish for dinner are very tasty.

What's your definition of a salad? spinach/lettuce and good stuff from the garden…..HOLD THE MAYO.

More about Cynthia: Rigger and racer for modern performance and luxury sailing yachts as well as tall ships.
