Adult Voyages 2018

Aboard Oliver Hazard Perry the focus is on learning 'from sailing' rather than learning 'to sail.' Each individual participates to the best of their ability within the rotating watch system and the efforts of every member of the ship's company are vital to the voyage. No one is a passenger: everyone works together to help make the voyage a success. No prior experience is necessary; no extraordinary fitness is required.

A voyage aboard the Tall Ship Oliver Hazard Perry is safe and can be exhilarating. But while sailing aboard Oliver Hazard Perry is an adventure, it is also comfortable: our professional chef prepares three fine meals each day, berths and cabins are comfortably furnished, the ship is air conditioned throughout and there is ample hot water for showers (although we must conserve our fresh water supply on longer passages).

For safety and program experience, any adult over the age of 65 will be required to show proof of a medical health screening to ensure the minimum level of physical fitness is met. This must be submitted a minimum of 30 days prior to program start date.

Please note that each departure requires a minimum of 15 trainees booked in order to run.  Should the minimum not be met, Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island has the right to cancel the departure at its own discretion. The cancellation notification will be made at least three weeks prior to departure. Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island will work with rescheduling trainees to another departure, or provide a full refund (minus Active reservation fees) to the original payment method.

Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island highly suggests all trainees purchase traveler’s insurance in case of cancellation or trip interruption.”
