Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island has been able to have a strong presence at the annual Tallships America Conference this year in Baltimore, MD, beyond general attendance

Holly Buresh, Educational Programs Manager, co-lead a session titled "Mariners to Teachers: Teaching how to Teach" that explored ways to empower professional mariners to become teachers and trainers of their trade implementing stronger teaching methods for all ages and experience.

Captain Jonathan Kabak, CEO, co-lead a session titled "Maximizing Revenue Opportunities for your Organization- Exploring the possible, the Reasonable, and the Innovative" that explored innovative and expanded usage of vessels and facilities to bolster revenue streams and boost an organization's income potential beyond traditional sail training and education programs.

Why aren't we in warmer environments than Rhode Island in the winter?

One reason is because there is so much more below deck! The world of engineering onboard is vast and interacts with just about everything we do above deck and below. This is the time of year to deep dive into our engineering curriculum while staying warm

Another reason is that there are so many students here in Rhode Island who benefit from coming to the ship and taking part in our programs. Not only do they get to learn about all of the ship's systems, but they also learn about the maritime industry at large. No matter what season, the maritime industry is working!
