Volunteers are at the heart of Oliver Hazard Perry's mission and an integral part of our ship’s community. By volunteering, you contribute towards the success of our on-board programs and enable us to expand our outreach within Rhode Island, New England, and beyond. Volunteers at Oliver Hazard Perry perform a wide variety of tasks, and every volunteer day is new and different. You may be asked to lead a tour below decks, talk about the ship’s history to a group of schoolchildren, varnish railings, help the engineer in the engine room, participate in a woodworking project, or help with rigging and sails. No matter your background, we are excited to welcome you to become a part of our volunteer corps.

Oliver Hazard Perry is currently docked at Bowen's Wharf in downtown Newport for the winter months of 2024. Volunteer opportunities will be available throughout our winter season. Please fill out the inquiry form below below and we will get you onboard!

If you are not available immediately to volunteer, but are interested in joining our volunteer corps, complete and submit the information form below and an OHPRI representative will get in touch regarding upcoming volunteer training days.
